Triphala (three fruits)
In ayurveda, triphala, also known as three-fruits, is the best known food supplement and the most important rasayana. Triphala contains, in precise proportions, a mix of amla (Indian gooseberry), haritaki (panicles myrobolan) and bibhitaki (beleric myrobalan) - the three fruits. Amla has a calming effect on the pitta dosha, haritaki mainly harmonises vata and bibhitaki is calming for the kapha dosha. The combination of all three fruits is balancing for all three doshas.
